Seeing and understanding Development Landscapes
Development Intelligence and Sustainable Intervention – DISI
Development Intelligence and Sustainable Intervention (DISI) is being developed as an interdisciplinary field, discipline and professional practice concerned with the rigorous and continuing discovery, understanding and interpretation of Development Landscapes; the generation and application of Development Intelligence; the strengthening of Development Readiness; and the intelligent design, implementation, learning and continuing improvement of Sustainable Interventions.
Explore the Development Landscape before deciding what the answer should be. Discovery seeks to understand what is visible and already known while deliberately looking for what may be latent, overlooked, contested, changing or not yet understood.
Observe, listen, investigate and connect evidence from different perspectives. The Lens guides inquiry through appropriate methods, tools, evidence and multidisciplinary perspectives, helping to reduce blind spots without implying that every blind spot can be eliminated.
Prepare responsibly where Discovery shows that progression remains justified. Discovery may confirm, reshape, combine, resequence, relocate or stop a proposed intervention; Readiness is not an automatic next step.
Return, learn and look again as conditions and interventions change. Rediscovery asks what has emerged, disappeared, been missed, changed significance or become newly possible.
